GrowArt™ Compact vs. Deluxe: Which Classroom Bundle Is Right for Your Students?
Share
Bringing hands-on STEM into the classroom shouldn't require a greenhouse, a large school garden, or weeks of complicated setup.
GrowArt™ turns plant science into something students can create, observe, and ultimately eat. Students use seeds to create a design on a soil-free hydroponic growing pad, then watch as their artwork transforms into colorful edible microgreens.
For schools, teachers, STEM programs, homeschool co-ops, and after-school programs, Farming The Future offers two 24-student classroom options: the GrowArt™ Compact Classroom Bundle and the GrowArt™ Deluxe Classroom Bundle.
Both deliver the same core hands-on GrowArt experience. The biggest differences are price, packaging, and the number of growing rounds included. Farming The Future
So, which GrowArt classroom kit is right for your students?

First: What Is GrowArt™?
GrowArt™ is a hands-on STEM and STEAM classroom activity that combines plant science, hydroponics, art, nutrition, and creativity.
Instead of painting with traditional materials, students essentially paint with plants.
Students place red amaranth and Chia seeds onto a hydroponic growing pad to create contrasting designs. After an initial three-day dark period, the trays move into the light, where students continue caring for and observing their plants.
Over the following one to two weeks, their designs transform into colorful microgreen artwork. Typical time from planting to harvest is approximately 10–17 days. Farming The Future
And the finished artwork isn't just for display.
It's edible.
Students can harvest the Chia and red amaranth microgreens they grew, creating a tangible connection between seed germination, plant growth, agriculture, nutrition, and the food on their plates.
What Comes in the GrowArt™ Compact Classroom Bundle?
The GrowArt™ Compact Classroom Bundle was designed for schools that want the complete GrowArt learning experience while prioritizing budget, storage space, and efficient classroom distribution.
The $250 classroom bundle includes 24 individual kits, with each student receiving two hydroponic growing pads, red amaranth and Chia seeds for two growing rounds, stencil inserts, a planting tool, a misting bottle, and a compact clear case with a lid. Farming The Future
The smaller cases stack easily, making the Compact Bundle particularly appealing when classroom or supply-room space is limited.
Two Growing Rounds = Learn, Then Apply
Students still get more than one opportunity to create.
The first growing round can introduce the GrowArt process and stencil technique. Then students can use their second round to improve their stencil technique or experiment with a freestyle design.
That flexibility makes Compact especially useful for shorter classroom units, STEM events, after-school programs, science fair activities, or schools introducing GrowArt for the first time.
At $250 for 24 students, the classroom bundle works out to approximately $10.42 per student, before shipping. Farming The Future
What Comes in the GrowArt™ Deluxe Classroom Bundle?
The GrowArt™ Deluxe Classroom Bundle takes the same core GrowArt experience and expands it into a more complete multi-round learning experience.
The $300 Deluxe Bundle also serves 24 students, but each student receives enough supplies for three complete growing rounds rather than two. Each kit includes three hydroponic growing pads, red amaranth and Chia seeds, stencil inserts, a planting tool, misting bottle, growing tray and lid, and a reusable Art Pail. Farming The Future
That works out to $12.50 per student, before shipping.
The additional $50 for the classroom bundle adds a third growing round for every student—24 additional growing experiences in total—along with the reusable bucket-style Art Pails.
The Deluxe Difference: Learn, Improve, Then Create
The third growing round creates an opportunity to turn GrowArt into a progression rather than a single activity.
Round 1: Learn. Students use a stencil and become familiar with seed placement, watering, germination, and the growing process.
Round 2: Improve. Students repeat the stencil process with experience from their first attempt, giving them an opportunity to refine their technique and compare results.
Round 3: Create. Students can move beyond the stencil and create their own freestyle GrowArt design.
An initial. A symbol. A pattern. A heart. School spirit. Something completely original.
This progression adds an important element to the STEAM experience: iteration.
Students aren't simply trying to get the "right" answer. They can observe the results of one attempt, make changes, and try again.
That makes the Deluxe Bundle particularly well suited for a longer STEM or STEAM unit, project-based learning, science fairs, open houses, family STEM nights, and classroom showcases.
What About the Art Pail?
This is the other major difference between the two GrowArt classroom bundles.
The Compact Bundle uses a smaller, stackable clear case, while each Deluxe kit comes packaged in a reusable Art Pail with a carrying handle. Farming The Future
For teachers short on classroom storage, Compact has an obvious advantage.
But the Art Pail adds another dimension to the Deluxe experience. Students can personalize their containers, display them, and ultimately take them home.
That can be especially valuable when GrowArt is being used for an open house, STEM night, science fair, parent-engagement activity, or end-of-unit celebration.
The project doesn't simply end at harvest. Students can leave with something connected to the experience.
Which GrowArt™ Classroom Bundle Should You Choose?
The answer comes down to what you want the GrowArt experience to accomplish.
Choose GrowArt™ Compact if...
Your priority is getting a hands-on growing experience into the classroom at the lowest classroom-bundle price.
Compact is particularly well suited for schools and programs that:
- Have limited classroom or storage space
- Want a lower-cost introduction to GrowArt
- Only need two growing rounds
- Are planning a shorter STEM or STEAM unit
- Need kits that stack and store efficiently
- Are purchasing for multiple classrooms or larger programs
You aren't getting a lesser growing experience. You're getting the same core GrowArt activity in a more streamlined format. Farming The Future
Choose GrowArt™ Deluxe if...
You want GrowArt to become a more complete classroom experience.
Deluxe makes sense when educators want:
- Three growing rounds per student
- Two opportunities to practice with stencils
- A dedicated freestyle design round
- Reusable Art Pails students can personalize
- A stronger take-home component
- More opportunities for observation and iteration
- A project for STEM nights, open houses, science fairs, or classroom displays
For an additional $50 per 24-student bundle, Deluxe provides 24 additional growing rounds plus the reusable Art Pails. Farming The Future
Two Bundles. One Hands-On Learning Experience.
Whether you choose Compact or Deluxe, the heart of GrowArt™ stays the same.
Students aren't simply reading about germination.
They're watching it happen.
They're not simply discussing where food comes from.
They're growing it.
And they're not choosing between science and creativity.
They're using both.
GrowArt™ brings together STEM, STEAM, hydroponics, plant science, nutrition, agriculture, and art in a hands-on classroom experience that can happen right on a desk.
The Compact Classroom Bundle makes that experience more economical and easier to store. The Deluxe Classroom Bundle adds another growing round and a reusable Art Pail for educators who want to extend the experience.
Either way, students get something worksheets can't provide:
the opportunity to create something—and watch it come alive.
